3 Head-Related Health Conditions That an Adjustable Bed Can Alleviate

by Elsa Jarvela

Adjustable beds can often help improve blood circulation, sleeping position, and joint pain. But adjustable beds can help to relieve a whole range of health conditions throughout the body. One area that adjustable beds can help with is your head.

By raising your adjustable bed and in the process, your upper body, you can help to relieve the symptoms of the following health conditions.

1. Sleep apnea and snoring

If you suffer from sleep apnea or snoring, then an adjustable bed can help you and your partner to get a better night's sleep. For people that snore, when they settle down to sleep at night, lying flat on their back, their tongue relaxes and slips into their throat. As they breathe, the tongue and soft tissues of the throat then begin to vibrate, which leads to snoring.

One way of preventing this is to elevate your head as you sleep. While you can do this with pillows, pillows can sometimes leave you with a sore neck. Instead, you can raise your adjustable bed so that you can get a better night's sleep without hurting your neck and without disturbing your partner.

2. Sinus congestion

For sinus allergy sufferers, sleeping flat on their back at night can leave them struggling to breathe, as their nose becomes congested. As a result, they start to breathe through their mouth instead of their nose, something which can lead to snoring and an increased risk of tooth decay.

When you elevate your body and head, you can help to drain your sinuses and open up your airways, reducing congestion in the process. You can do this with pillows, but a far more comfortable way to keep your head elevated as you sleep is to use an adjustable bed to raise yourself into a comfortable position.

3. Toothache pain

Sufferers of toothache due to dental decay or dental infections often experience more severe pain when they lie flat on their backs. This is because the blood supply to the head area increases, which in turn increases the pressure at the site of the toothache. With an adjustable bed, whenever you suffer tooth-related pain, you can elevate your head easily to reduce tooth pain when you go to bed.

If you suffer from sleep apnea or a sinus allergy, then an adjustable bed can help you to get a better night's sleep. And as a bonus, if you ever suffer from tooth-related pain, an adjustable bed can help with that too.
